I am back, well, almost.

It has been quite some time since I have added to the blog. I have learned so much in the past 15 months that I don’t really know where to begin.

Facebook definitely gets my vote as the best social networking site. It just has everything. If you have not tried it yet, have a go. It is easy to get started and has become my primary email site. Some of the games are fun (especially online pool) and the video/photo sharing is easy and fun. http://www.facebook.com

Teachertube also gets my vote as a brilliant resource to use in it classroom. It is basically the same as youtube with the exception of having a bunch of half-witted, abusive commentators. Within minutes of posting videos on teachertube, people were already viewing the material. You can have a look at some of my classes work at http://www.teachertube.com/uprofile.php?UID=15948

Now to Apple Mac. All I will say on this topic is that once you try mac, you will never turn back. Apple computers are so much more user friendly than PC. No virus worries, beautiful aesthetics and brilliant applications. My students love working on the MacBooks. If they ever have a choice, they almost always choose the mac, unless they want to play a game that is only PC compatible.  I have fallen in love with mac computers. I use my MacBook for music production, photo/video editing, all word processing (as it has MS Word), creating presentations, creating posters, creating birthday cards, listening to music, watching movies, playing games, internet connection……………

My first attempt at making music on the mac was more than 12 months ago. This song (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=6cMxnaPC66A) was created using only my guitar, a torch, some candles, an ironing board and a MacBook. The vocals were even recorded using the built in microphone (not bad eh).

Until next time, enjoy.

It is a shame that some people have not the intellect nor the personality to interact with people in positive ways. It is a shame that the world is filling with hate. It is a shame that people are so caught up with their own obsessive needs that they neglect what is important, namely their own children.

I have often said to good parents, ‘You must be good parents, as you have a wonderful child.’ The opposite can often be said. Crappy kids usually have crappy parents.

Why am I ranting on like this? Because some people infuriate me. The particular one in question will probably not have the mental capacity to understand most of the words in this post. To the particular individual that this is aimed at, ‘grow up. Your hate filled attitude will not only destroy you, it will destroy others around you, including those that may actually love you, although I find it difficult to believe there is such a person.’

Just starting off? Me too.

This page is for people like myself who need a little help to operate their own blog.

It has taken me a while to figure out how to add a new post. Now that I  have achieved this relatively simple task, I can help guide you through.

When you have your home page up, on the left you will see Site Admin. This will take you to a Dashboard. Click on Write. After you have written what you want click on Publish. Now you are on the way to becoming a professional blogger just like me. hahahaha.

Hello fellow blogger.

What is a blog anyway?

This is a question I am yet to answer. I am attempting to come up with a simple definition for the term ‘blog’ that the average person, who knows nothing about the web 2.0, can understand.

Can you help?

My Journey

I am on a journey of discovery (as we all are) about the new (relatively) ways of communicating with the global community. I have a flickr account, a wikispace and a youtube user account, all for the simple reason of learning about the benefits of a linked global community and to learn about web 2.0 products. So far I am still a rank amateur at best and feel that I have so much to learn. My philosophy is to jump in with two feet and ‘have a go’.

I have mixed feelings about the new technological society we live in compared with the one I grew up in. When I was a boy ( I can’t believe I am using that expression, I am only 34 years old) I spent most of my spare time outside, riding bikes, playing sport, making cubby houses and playing in dirt and mud. Today most children I know spend most of their time indoors and are too afraid to get their new designer clothes dirty. Is this new lifestyle creating a better world? I am sitting right on the centre of the fence. Can anyone enlighten me about their views on this topic?
